EXHIBITION: Nelson Shanks and the Artists of Studio Incamminati
The National Arts Club, Grand Gallery – January 3-14, 2013
15 Gramercy Park South
New York, NY 10003
Highlighted by works of Shanks and faculty and alumni of Studio Incamminati, the exhibit exemplified
the advanced level of practice the school endorses and by extension, contributes to the practice of
professional art education. Studio Incamminati, a fine arts teaching atelier, was founded by Nelson
and Leona Shanks as an alternative to the prevailing arts education model favored by college and
university art departments. In 2012, Studio Incamminati celebrated its 10th anniversary. The success
of the school is attributable both to Shanks' overarching artistic guidance and the inspirational
instruction provided by his outstanding faculty of leading figurative realists working within the
colorist tradition. www.nationalartsclub.org
